AND NOW FOR THE NORTHERN IRELAND RESULTS...
D-Day for the Ulster Unionists and the SDLP as counting commences here in Northern Ireland. Slugger O'Toole is well worth a visit for up to date views and analysis of what is happening. The general consensus is that the DUP and the IRA have done well, that the UUP has been squeezed, and the SDLP is dead in th water. We will soon know the truth of the situation. It's been five years since I stood in the King's Hall for the 1999 Euro-election result when I was part of the UNITED KINGDOM UNIONIST PARTY. I remember the experience well; here's the summary.
1. Willy Hayes of the DUP gloating about the size of the UKUP vote. This Akins Diet reject was a truly wretched creature whose presence in the DUP repulses me.
2. The UUP and PUP representatives in deep dialogue. Mmm..so much in common, I guess.
3. Commiserating with the Alliance Party candidate, Sean Neeson. Two days later, Neeson publicly attacked our Party. Now there's solidarity for you.
4. The sadness of knowing that you stood on an honourable platform which meant bugger all to the traditionalist voters of NI!
