DEATH OF BARRY COWAN...



I was very sorry to hear of the death of broadcaster Barry Cowan tonight. I was fortunate to be interviewed a few times by Barry towards the end of his career at the BBC and can assure readers that he was a formidable interviewer who put me in my place on more than one occasion! His skill was in listening to what you said and then exposing any deficiencies in your argument. Mine had plenty and this led to the odd heated exchange (!)between Barry and myself but I recall him as a very kind man more tolerant of whipper-snappers than me than I deserved He will be missed.
