Can't See the Trees for the Wood

If a competition was staged to find out the most repulsive insult to fallen heroes, I would have to recommend this appalling outburst by the Executive Director of the Police Ombudsman's Office, Dave Wood as a chief contender for 1st prize. He besmirches the sacrifices of the RUC GC by opining on the 'poor level of policing during the darkest days of the Troubles.'

Mr Wood goes on to say the RUC enacted a 'fire brigade policing' policy, but only makes a fleeting reference as the reason why: namely, the constant attacks made on the police (and other defenders of the State) by terrorist groups. By contrast, Mr Wood contends the PSNI are now 'highly competent.'

Mmmm, I wonder if he is referring to the same PSNI which has a doleful record in crime prevention; the same police force operationally hamstrung by a disgustingly discriminatory recruitment policy established in order to appease nationalist sentiment; the same police force commanded by a man so imbibed with political correctness that he implores the same scum who orchestrated attacks on the RUC to now actively 'get involved in policing.'!!???

Neither nationalist Ireland nor the vassals of government quangos are worthy enough to question the fine sacrifice of the men and women, Catholics and Protestants of the Royal Ulster Constabulary over the past three decades. As Sir John Gorman (a Catholic and ex-RUC officer) once said: 'As long as I live - and there are many like me, of all faiths and none - it will never be anything else other than the Royal Ulster Constabulary.'

What 'right' do upstarts like Mr Wood have to taint their proud achievements? None whatsoever!!
