Terrorists Hitting the Pockets
OK, I'm prepared to admit the concerted efforts to demonise Sinn Fein/IRA in the Irish Republic prior to the local and European elections spectacularly backfired. This wasn't because the various newspapers and government ministers were erroneous in their condemnation, but because the people who gave IRA apologists a mandate have principles lower than a snake's nipple.
Thus, if exposing and highlighting Sinn Fein's inextricable linkage to thugs who are primus inter pares in the murder stakes does nothing to stem the 'party's' electoral surge, maybe a little economic tutelage can do so. Obviously, Sinn Fein's present voters hold no sentiments for the sanctity of human life; but maybe they will hold some common sense and realise that empowering a party of unreconstructed Marxists will eventually hit them where it most hurts - their pockets. The pain of financial depletion would be even more intense than the pain caused by Sinn Fein/IRA punishment squads should Adams & Co ever find themselves in a position to form part of a governing coalition.
