Yorkshire Day
It's here again!! The first day of August is when we Tykes celebrate Yorkshire Day. It's a little like St Patrick's Day - with events and parades taking place throughout the various Ridings. To this end, I thought I would include a link to a few interesting facts about my home county. There are a couple of little factoids I would like to include, nonetheless:
1. North Yorkshire is the UK's largest administrative county, covering over 3,000 square miles (London, by comparison, covers a paltry 610 square miles). North Yorkshire alone is only a third smaller than the entire province of Northern Ireland.
2. At 12:15am on Wednesday, 15th November 1972, Andrew Martin McCann was born on the 10th floor of Haley Court, Halifax. In fact, Halifax is where he still resides (heaven help him!!).
