You know, we've all come a long way thanks to the Northern Ireland peace process. A long way from conventional morality and one hell of a long way from democracy.



Thus, the main political news today is that leading IRA proxies, Adams and McGuinness, are off to London to lay down their latest set of expectations.



It is frequently alleged,that both these men sit/have sat on the illegal IRA army council. It is also frequently claimed that both men have prime leadership roles within this terrorist cabal. So, why are they in political talks rather than in a prison call? Answer: because the British Government has cut a deal with them centred on carefully graduated appeasement and this means the maintainenance of the ridiculous fiction that Sinn Fein and the IRA are somehow separate!



Of course any sane person knows that Sinn Fein and the IRA are inextricably linked and thus the current reality is that the IRA now has access to the highest levels of Government. Thus it has little need to kill when it can get what it wants merely by the threat of killing. The IRA will never disarm and disband because were it to do so it would be just like every other political party - and would have to face the prospect of being ignored like every other political party is from time to time. The brown-shirt fascists in Sinn Fein have been appeased for far too many years and believe that they will always get their way. It's time that Government found the guts to face them down - instead it will be tea and buns and the pretence of normality will be maintained.
