BORIS IN HOT WATER.

Conservative MP and all round clown, Boris Johnson, is at the centre of a storm over comments made in an editorial in this week's Spectator which says that people in Liverpool "cannot accept that they might have made any contribution to their misfortunes, but seek rather to blame someone else for it, thereby deepening their sense of shared tribal grievance about the rest of society".

It adds that Liverpudlians "wallow" in their "victim status", part of the "deeply unattractive psyche" of many in the city. The article goes on to say Ken Bigley's brother Paul was wrong to say the Prime Minister has "blood on his hands". It says Mr Bigley took a risk by working in Iraq against the advice of the Foreign Office, and that "his motives and misjudgements... should, without lessening sympathy for him and his family, temper the outpouring of sentimentality in which many have engaged for him".

Well now, first Billy Connolly, then Mark Steyn..and now poor old Boris.

All I would say is that I know some very decent scousers but I am sure there are some whinging scousers. People in Liverpool are the same as people everywhere..so for me this is a confused editorial. Of course the Bingley affair got out of all proportion and was handled very poorly by a hysterical UK media, but I don't see how that makes Liverpudlians "deeply unattractive"?
