Christopher Reeve RIP



I was very sad indeed to hear of the death of Christopher Reeve. It is always a tragedy when someone dies long before their full life has been concluded, but even more so when death is brought on by circumstances over which the victim has absolutely no control.



Reeve was a virtual unknown before he shot to stardom in the 1978 movie, Superman. He was apparently chosen because his looks and physique most closely resembled the classic comic image of the all-American superhero. In 1995 his independent living was cut short following a riding accident resulting in a broken neck. Since then, he had been a tireless campaigner for disability rights.



Christopher Reeve's plight exemplified the challenge to overcome adversity. I am only sorry he never lived to fulfil his dream of being able to walk again.
