'O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us' wrote Rabbie Burns. It is a maxim applicable to the writings of Bigoted Bri. This week the pen of excoriation is directed at UUP and DUP members who are supposedly linked by tenuous connections to loyalist paramilitaries. Since the meteoric rise of Sinn Fein/IRA in the second-class community, sterling efforts have been made to justify voting for the IRA-excusing unwashed in a cunning plan to equate the penchant for endorsing terrorism within the Unionist community with that of separatist counterparts.



Of course no such comparison exists. Unionist voters have steadfastly rejected parties fronting loyalist paramilitaries in spite of government efforts down the years to engender constitutionality within the PUP and UDP. Thus, in a classic whitewashing exercise, separatist hacks then contrive to draw upon any events they can cite as evidence that constitutional Unionism is somehow part of the same fold as UDA drug dealers. Hence, Bigoted Bri's ludicrous endeavour at besmirching the names of Michael McGimpsey and Ruth Patterson.



I have not agreed with meetings between the mainstream pro-Union parties and the PUP, etc. However, that is a universe away from gloating over 1700 murders, justifying terrorism, refusing to decommission and disappear, and bastardising history by elevating Provo killers to the status of 'vindicated veterans': all acknowledged traits of the one party (Sinn Fein) Bigoted Bri's bigmouth strains itself to defend and support at every conceivable opportunity. I suggest that, before he launches into a smug, sanctimonious tirade over wildly fallacious emotional or fraternal bonds between constitutional Unionism and paramilitarism, or equally erroneous 'racist' stereotypes of the majority community, BB stands back and introspectively examines just what pathetically low human specimens he grants journalistic absolution to week in and week out!!
