LET'S TALK?
Did anyone see last evening's edition of BBC Ulster's flagship "Let's Talk" programme? Taking part were: Col Tim Collins, the Ulster born soldier whose stirring speech to his troops as they prepared to enter Iraq gained him international renown; Nell McCafferty, flaky ancient republican; Kate Hoey, the Ulster born Labour MP; and the CEO of Co-operation North whose name evades me.
The audience was composed of the usual leftist sub-student rabble and the questions had the usual leftist bias. I though McCafferty was a blabbering ill-mannered disgrace. The three other panellists were hectored, interrupted, patronised and insulted by this jurassic harpy from the Bogside. Had I been on the panel, she would have got her come-uppance good and proper for her outrageous comments.
I thought Collins showed why the UUP would have loved him to be a UUP candidate at the next GE - he was very weak. Hoey was similarly weak-minded.
It is a pity that "Let's Talk" chooses not to have strong right-of-centre political opinion expressed more frequently but then that might upset you lefties reading this, and you're such sensitive souls, right? left?
I think having the presenter, Mark Carruthers, standing at a podium is a good idea though. (Harder to crib the questions a few seconds in advance, mind!!)
