MASSIVE CUT IN EU AID FEARED.
Good news - Northern Ireland is set to lose up to 40% of its £50m EU-funded peace programme, it has been revealed today! According to a European Commission document obtained by the Belfast Telegraph, the province would see its share of funding cut from around £50m a year under the existing peace programme to £30m.
The bad news is that border counties would see their take maintained around current levels of £15m a year.
I'll be very happy to see all this largesse stopped, those who sponge off this need to learn how to stand on their own two non-EU subsidised feet. The great shame is that "border counties" are being treated with kid gloves.
