Is Wigan " the arse-end of the world"?



I only ask because that is the reported view of Keep Britain Tidy Assistant chief executive Sue Nelson told a London. Ms Nelson also allegedly said: "London is the financial capital - Wigan is the pie capital." She has been suspended from her job for making these comments - I think she should be promoted. The more honesty we encourage in puiblic life the better. And yes, I have been to Wigan and it wasn't great!



Perhaps I could ask readers to nominate their preference for a town that can compete with Wigan in it's sheer awfulness? My choice would be...Newry.
