ULSTER UNIONISTS PREDICT DEVOLUTION DEAL

UUP negotiator Michael McGimpsey believes that The DUP and Sinn Fein will reach a deal over restoring devolution in the autumn. He also believes, it is rumoured, that Elvis is alive and well and working in the Virgin Megastore in Royal Avenue, that Aliens have captured the Queen Mother who is not really dead, and that UUP fortunes will improve if he closes his eyes and wishes hard enough.

With the liklihood of a UK General election in 2005, both the DUP and Sinn Fein will seek to consolidate their dominance of NI politics - they need to wipe out the UUP and SDLP at Westminster level before talk of any "deals" carries conviction.

It's not that I trust the DUP - the truth is that I rate their political judgement rather more than I do Mr. McGimpsey's.
