A Little Uniformity Please, Auntie Beeb
I'm all in favour of undercover journalism, provided it is even-handed in its approach to the topic. Therefore, I am somewhat disturbed by the obvious lack of balance in the exposure by BBC reporter, Jason Gwynne, on the thoughts and opinions of prominent BNP members in my own back yard.
I resent the rise of the BNP on my doorstep. I think this party is little different from Sinn Fein/IRA, and I certainly don't believe the very real and legitimate concerns over the excessive amounts of illegal immigration into the UK can be vented through a party machine whose members are stridently anti-Semitic, and who believe it is right to victimise someone on account of their skin colour.
On the rise of Islam, however, BNP Leader, Nick Griffin, has made some comments which will resonate with a large number of non-Muslims - whatever creed or colour they may be. Bearing that in mind, if would be beneficial to the public if the BBC took the decision to investigate some of the hateful hortatory addresses emanating from these radical Imams in British mosques, as a way of assessing Mr Griffin's opinions against the reality of the situation. I can't see the BBC undertaking such an endeavour, lest it reveal a high degree of accuracy in Griffin's analysis.
