Orange Dignity

Congratulations go to all those Orangemen who paraded in East Belfast last evening with dignity and pride. It is especially heartwarming to know nationalist attempts to vent their bigoted spleens at still another new location, did not prevent the parade from taking place.

Each protest is but a microcosm of the inability of Irish nationalism to give credence to any other culture on the island but their own. It is a pity the metal screens erected to shield the Short Strand area could not become a permanent feature of the landscape, so the local Unionist majority do not have to gaze upon it every day.
