Soft-Touch Britain

The Daily Telegraph this morning informs us of the depressing news that Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the putative terrorist advocate disguised as an Islamic cleric, will not be facing prosecution for the vile philosophies he has excused whilst visiting the UK.

Apparently, the Crown Prosecution Service thinks there is insufficient evidence to warrant a formal detention. Insufficient evidence!!!? Here is a person who justifies wife-beating, executing homosexuals and suicide bombing in Israel. Surely he should be detained, questioned and, ultimately, expelled from our shores on the grounds of incitement to hatred and constituting a threat to public order. Lest we forget he took time out to address a cabal of radicalised Islamic half-wits at the Regents Park Mosque: people whose hatred of Jews is so virile they would, in all probability, happily annihilate someone for reasons as tenuous as a Golders Green postmark.

We shouldn't be amazed at the warmth of the welcome expressed by Ken Livingstone. Modern-day Jacobins such as he take great pleasure in sharing the limelight with individuals repellent to the silent majority. I don't think the fools who gave him a mandate in June can remember the many times he shared a platform with Gerry Adams during the Eighties whilst Gerry's buddies busied themselves slaughtering men, women, children and horses on the streets of our capital. When Ken extolled London as 'a city of many faiths', I doubt he remembered the thousands of Jews who help to make-up this religious mosaic.
