HOW THE ANTI-WAR BRIGADE GOT IT WRONG!
The always readable Melanie Phillips makes an excellent point in a recent posting on her web diary. This relates to the recent success of the Pakistani authorities in gaining valuable intelligence on Al Qu'eda plans against the West - and the US and UK in particular. Here's the killer point.
For what seems like eons, and most certainly since the Iraq liberation began, the lliberal eft has been squealing how Blair's support for Bush has made the UK a target for Al Qu'eda terrorism. Those such as Robin Cook dine out on this charge. But how then, can one square this central tenet of leftism, with the discovery that Al Qu'eda were working on plans to attack the UK before 9/11 happened, before Bush entered the White House, before Saddam even appeared on the radar?
Naturally, the BBC is keeping quiet on this point since it invalidates the liturgy of the left. But Melanie is right in what she says, and the more this point is put across, the more ludicrous liberals reflexive self-loathing of the West becomes.
