Labour has successfully bastardised the traditional neutrality of the Civil Service and nowhere has the malign consequences of this constitutional hooliganism been more apparent than in this instance of Home Office ministers ordering independent civil servants to mount a covert propaganda campaign against a leading critic of government immigration policy. This has been revealed in confidential Whitehall documents - details here. In essence, the Government leaned on the Office of National Statistics NOT to publish migration figures as these would only confirm what has been claimed by Sir Andrew Green at Migrationwatch. They would also have indicated that - shock horror - Blair misled the British pubic over migration figures.



That's how Blair's adminstration works - it cheats, it misleads, it lies. And the British public vote for it.
