Watching the ferocity of Hurricane Ivan as it sweeps across Grenada, past Jamaica, and now heads towards Cuba, I am reminded how fortunate those of us who live in the slightly damp but otherwise relatively mild maritime climate are. It must be awful for those poor people who have to sit and watch as homes are ripped up and their(precious little)possessions scattered to and with the four winds. I think many of us are insulated from the raw power of nature - and Hurricanes are but one example of that indiscriminate might.
