GOING DOWN TO LIVERPOOL.

Poor old Boris Johnson. Conservative MP and TV personality Boris Johnson is off to Liverpool today to "apologise" for the remarks carried in the current edition of the Spectator, of which he is also Editor.

Am I alone in finding the sight of a contrite Boorish having to trundle off to Scouseland to humbly apologise slightly disturbing? After all, what about the freedom of the press to say what it wants? Are Scousers above criticism - even if the criticism is wrong? I think Michael Howard has over-reacted to the stupidity of Boris's comments and in forcing his own MP to ritually prostrate himself merely creates another example of the victim culture which Boris, ironically, wrote about in the first place!
